Climate Change and Energy

Climate change is a major priority for our Capital Campaign because it affects everything from the food we eat, the water we drink and the air we breathe, to how we heat our homes, our means of transportation, how we do business and our governance practices at home and abroad.

When You Support Climate Change and Energy at IISD

You help Move Economies toward a Low-Carbon Energy Future

The funds raised here will help facilitate the exchange of ideas and perspectives by engaging key decision-makers and policy influencers as they prepare for the impacts of climate change—both nationally and internationally. Our Climate Change and Energy projects include:

Climate
  • Examining domestic and international priorities on post-2012 climate policy;

  • Developing tools to help project managers address adaptation in vulnerable communities;

  • Assessing how market-based mechanisms can advance sustainable development priorities and achieve emission reductions; and

  • Exploring how best to link existing and emerging regional climate change regulatory frameworks.

Our work with the Climate Risk Screening Tool (CRiSTAL)—Adaptation and Livelihoods continues to increase the capacity of development assistance organizations to incorporate climate change adaptation into the design and implementation of their projects and programs.

Our Climate Change and Energy team is also involved with work for the governments of British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland as well as influential private sector firms, providing updates on relevant developments domestically and internationally.
